Moderate Problems on Mixture

Below are three problems based on the concept of mixtures in some ratio. Question 1 A certain box of health drink powder is obtained by mixing the makers as 3 parts of milk powder with 5 parts of energy powder. If 2 kg of the mixture is needed and the individual makers can be purchased only in one kg or half kg box. What is the least amount of makers, in kg's, that must be purchased in order to measure out the portions needed for the mixture? a)2kg b)3kg c)4.5kg d)2.5kg Answer : d)2.5kg Solution : Step 1) "A certain box of health drink powder is obtained by mixing the makers as 3 parts of milk powder with 5 parts of energy powder. " You should think: 3 parts of milk powder, 5 parts of energy powder sums to a total of 8 parts. More specifically, 3/8 of the mixture is milk powder and 5/8 of the mixture is energy powder. Step 2) "If 2 kgs of the mixture is needed and the individual makers can be purchased only in one kg or half kg cans" So w...

Mobile Screen and their Resolution for android developers

Compatible devices MUST support dynamic orientation by applications to either portrait or landscape screen orientation. That is, the device must respect the application's request for a specific screen orientation. Device implementations MAY select either portrait or landscape orientation as the default. There are some screen resolutions already defined in Android. They are: QVGA (240×320, low density, small screen) WQVGA (240×400, low density, normal screen) FWQVGA (240×432, low density, normal screen) HVGA (320×480, medium density, normal screen) WVGA800 (480×800, high density, normal screen) WVGA854 (480×854 high density, normal screen) QVGA (Quarter Video Graphics Array) QVGA (Quarter Video Graphics Array or Quarter VGA) is a type of resolution whose dimensions are 320×240 pixels. The QVGA display is normally found in devices such as mobile phones and PDAs. The display is also common on other hand-held devices such as game consoles. Resolution Most of the tim...

Non-verbal communication is as important as verbal communication

"Communication occurs when signals carry information-bearing messages between a source and a destination” – Robert M. Krauss, Columbia University. This can also be termed as verbal communication. On the other hand non-verbal communication is that process of communication where people exchange visual cues – for example: gestures, body language, eye contact, facial expression, etc. Whether you are in a social gathering or in an interview, the combination of verbal and non-verbal communication is of utmost importance. On several occasions we tend to overlook the necessity of transmitting the right non-verbal signals and end up conveying wrong messages. This holds true during an interview process as well. According to BVM Rao, Head Human Resources at Shoppers Stop, "We always look at the candidate’s balance between non-verbal and verbal communication while conducting an interview. Certain non-verbal signals such as eye contact and overall body language are very i...

Cisco Sample Problems On Circles

Question 1 Four concentric circles are drawn with the radii at interval of X units. If the radius of inner circle is X units then the ratio of the area between the 4th and 3rd circles to the area between the 2nd and 1st circles is: a)1:2 b)2:1 c)4:3 d)7:3 Answer : d)7:3 Solution : Let X be the radius of inner(1st) circle. Given that the radii of the circles are at the intervals of X units. Then X + X = 2X, 2X + X = 3X, 3X + X = 4X are the radii of successive circles respectively. Now, the area of first circle = pi(X) 2 = pi x X 2 Area of second circle = pi(2X) 2 = 4 x pi x X 2 Area of third circle = pi(3X) 2 = 9 x pi x X 2 Area of fourth circle = pi(4X) 2 = 16 x pi x X 2 Then, the area between 1st and 2nd circles = (4 x pi x X 2 ) - (pi x X 2 ) = 3piX 2 br /> And the area between 3rd and 4th circles = (16 x pi x X 2 ) - (9 x pi x X 2 ) = 7piX 2 Therefore the required ratio = 7piX 2 / 3piX 2 = 7/3 Hence the answer is 7:3 Question 2 88 and 66 are ...
